MUMKIN Alliance-Punjab was established in 2009 by the collective efforts of 15 provincial, national and international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that were working to combat violence against women for many years in Punjab. With the passage of time, many other Women Rights Organizations (WROs), Individuals, Lawyers, Media, Academia, and Individuals joined theAlliance. At present 20 WROs are parts of the alliance apart from individualsMUMKIN Alliance is not a registered alliance but a volunteer network that keeps on rotating every 2 years or so on.
Geographical Location & Networks
MUMKIN Alliance is a Provincial Network (In Punjab) and at present, its Secretariat is based in District Lahore. Alliance has close working relationships with other organizations & networks like Home Net Pakistan, P & J Network, and JAC etc. Apart from having affiliates from Lahore, Alliance has close working relationships and outreach to other Districts like Kasur, Sialkot, Multan, and Bahawalpur and organizations named Ittihad Foundation, BaidarieSialkot, PRWSO-Bahawalpur, and Roshni Welfare Organization Multan.
Thematic Areas
Since the inception of MUMKIN Alliance in the year 2009, its core precedence and concentration was Gender-Based Violence (GBV) i.e. Domestic Violence. With the passage of time, Alliance emerged as a strong and resilient network of CSOs, media, academia, government departments, and others to combat GBV from all domains and opted for horizontal to vertical strategies.
At present, Alliance is focusing on four thematic areas:
Advocacy and Partnership Strengths:
Keeping in view the alarming situation of VAW and a visible increase of crimes against women, Alliance aims to join hands to raise women’s voices vehemently and prominently for a deeper impact. Alliance also intends to work as referral cooperation between government and civil society organizations to mediate for public-private partnership in order to provide support and facilitation to access medical, legal, psychosocial services. Alliance has adversely advocated for having effective legislation & policies and its implementation in the areas of GBV, political rights of women mainly under the premise of local & national governance, child marriages, and HBWs.
