Core Support

Women rights organizations (WROs) are one of the most significant actors in influencing policy as they play an important role in articulating and changing perspectives and dictating gender norms. Women’s Voice and Leadership – Pakistan (WVL-P) works with 12 WROs that represent the country’s geographic and demographic diversity, are inclusive of ethnic, religious, and linguistic minority groups, and possess gender expertise in different thematic areas. The WROs supported under the WVL-P are typically led by women (women representation in senior/leadership roles and significant female representation in board) and/or their vision, mission and objectives clearly articulate a women’s empowerment agenda.

Using a strategic combination of funding mechanisms and capacity-strengthening support, the project focuses on strengthening WROs. This is done to support their autonomy, agency, and ability to manage their organizations’ programming for advancing women and girls’ human rights and gender equality. The capacity self-assessment tool (CAT) developed by Oxfam Canada was used to identify the specific capacity-building needs of the organizations.
